Casio was founded in 1946 in Tokyo by Tadao Kashio, together with his brothers Toshio, Kazuo, and Yukio. The company initially produced mechanical components before shifting towards electronics with its first calculators.

In 1974, the first watch, the Casiotron, was released, featuring an automatic digital calendar. However, the real breakthrough came in 1983 when engineer Kikuo Ibe launched the G-Shock, designed to withstand shocks, falls, and water.
