Collection: Gramicci

Gramicci was born in California in 1982 from the meeting between the mountaineer Mike Graham and the tailor Peter Bailey, who fused the outdoor experience with the art of tailoring to create garments designed for movement. The revolutionary “ G-Pant ” with “V” stitching redefined climbing pants, guaranteeing maximum freedom of movement, resistance and a timeless urban-outdoor aesthetic.

Today, the Gramicci offering combines technical and casual pieces: from the famous Voyager Pant , made of stretch fabric with an elasticated waist and cargo pockets, to the Swell Short , perfect for summer adventures. The Nylon Utility Short add functional details such as reinforced zips and key rings, while the fleece jackets and padded vests offer practical layering, both in the mountains and in the city. The collection is completed with flannel shirts and organic cotton t-shirts , an expression of comfort and attention to the environment, and with accessories such as adjustable belts and technical backpacks ready to support you on every journey.

Versatility and performance come together in the Gramicci spirit: whether you are tackling a rugged trail or exploring the metropolitan context, each piece combines durability, functionality and a recognisable style, designed to accompany you everywhere with practicality and character.

From Yosemite Walls to the Heart of Tokyo: A Guide to Gramicci, Freedom in Motion
Gramicci is the brand that proved true innovation is born out of necessity. It's the story of a group of Californian rebels who just wanted to climb impossible walls and, in doing so, invented a new aesthetic language: outdoor wear that doesn't need to look "technical" to be revolutionary.

The Dual Soul: The Spirit of the "Stonemasters" and Japanese Cult Following
To understand Gramicci, you need to visualize two worlds: the scorching California sun of the 70s and the minimalist streets of Shibuya in Tokyo.

  • Rebel Roots (The OG Story): It all started in the 70s with Mike Graham, a member of the legendary Stonemasters, a group of Yosemite climbers who were rewriting the rules of climbing. At the time, climbers wore jeans or military pants: uncomfortable, rigid, limiting. In 1982, Graham decided to create the perfect pair of pants in his garage in Ventura, California. He invented a vaguely Italian-sounding name, "Gramicci," and introduced three innovations that would change everything: a diamond-shaped gusset in the crotch (for 180-degree flexibility), an integrated one-hand adjustable belt, and a relaxed fit. It was the ultimate gear for those who lived for rock and slept in vans.
  • The Land of the Rising Sun Twist (The Urban Renaissance): As often happens with American icons, Japan understood Gramicci's potential before anyone else. In the 2000s, the brand was "adopted" by Japanese designers who saw in that mix of functionality and simplicity the perfect foundation for new streetwear. Under Japanese creative direction, Gramicci evolved: cuts became more contemporary, fabrics diversified (from corduroy to technical nylon), and the brand moved from mountain foothills to high-fashion boutiques. Today, Gramicci is a pillar of the Gorpcore movement: mountain wear for those who, at most, climb subway stairs.

The Pieces That Created the Myth
The G-Pant (The Original Climbing Pant)
The progenitor. The pant that started it all. With its straight, ample leg, ultra-durable cotton, and iconic "clinch" waist system, the G-Pant is the essence of Gramicci. It's an honest garment: it doesn't try to be elegant, but it becomes so thanks to its authenticity. It's the ideal travel companion, indestructible and capable of aging with a patina that tells a thousand adventures.

The G-Short (The Summer Essential)
The short version of the myth. If there's one pair of shorts that defines the summer of an outdoor enthusiast or an urban creative, it's the G-Short. Its robustness makes it perfect for sitting on a low wall or an impromptu hike, while the color variety (from earth tones to bright colors) has made it a fetish for collectors worldwide.

The Gadget Series (The Functional Evolution)
In recent years, Gramicci has pushed the envelope of utility with the Gadget line. Pants featuring giant side pockets that wrap around the leg, originally designed for climbing tools but perfect today for smartphones, keys, and everything we carry with us in the city. They represent the brand's evolution: the transition from pure rock climbing to modern functional design.

Why Has Gramicci Become a Cult? Anatomy of Comfort

Uncompromising Comfort: Once you've worn a pair of Gramiccis, going back to rigid jeans is difficult. The crotch gusset isn't just a technical detail; it's a feeling of freedom that becomes addictive.

"Anti-Fashion" Aesthetics: Gramicci wasn't born to be beautiful according to runway standards. It was born to function. This brutal honesty has made it incredibly attractive in an era of fake and constructed fashion.

Eternal Durability: These are garments made to be abused. The more you use them, the more you wash them, the more beautiful they become. It's the opposite of fast fashion: it's a purchase that lasts a lifetime.
The "Running Man" Logo: That small stylized man running on the belt has become a secret signal. Those who recognize it know that you share a certain philosophy of life: relaxed, active, and attentive to substance rather than form.

Gramicci's genius was never trying to be anything other than itself. It started on the walls of Yosemite with the sole purpose of allowing a man to lift a leg above his head without ripping his pants, and it ended up dressing global style icons. It took the "dirtbag" culture of climbers and transformed it into a canon of functional elegance. Wearing Gramicci today means celebrating that bit of adventurous spirit we all carry within, reminding us that, even if we're stuck in the office, our legs are made to move freely.
